Preparing for the Traditions and Superstitions of a Bridal Shower
Traditions are a huge part of a wedding, something borrowed something blue and even before the big day they play an important role. Leading up to the wedding it is tradition for example for the bride to have a shower or party, but how did that begin? Well centuries ago when a man and woman were wed the bride would bring to the marriage a dowry, given to her by her father. This would be something to help the couple in their new life, some land, money or items of value.
But of course not all fathers had that kind of wealth so for brides who could not bring a dowry, female friends and family would have a party for the bride and gift her with things that she would need in her marriage and new home.
Other the years many bridal shower superstitions have developed, while once these were believed, now they add some harmless fun to the party. If you are in charge of organizing a bridal shower here are a few traditions you can use.
When the gift opening starts there are a few bridal shower superstitions that you can have followed for good luck for the future couple and for a laugh. For example you must make sure the bride does not use any of the gifts she receives until after she is married otherwise it is meant to be bad luck. Gift one that she opens should also be the item she uses first after the wedding. And for a laugh once she has chosen gift three to open tell everyone that whoever the giver of it is will be the next person to become pregnant!
A last tradition is something that brings the bridesmaids together doing something that gives the couple good luck for their marriage. All of the ribbons and bows should be collected by them after all the gifts have been opened. They then get together another day to make a bouquet from them that they give to the bride and she uses during the rehearsal of the wedding.
